Sheltered from the noise
and the hustle and bustle
Located away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the Gare de Lyon-Bastille-Faubourg Saint Antoine triangle, RIESNER is nonetheless a stone's throw from the main attractions of the area. You can discover in a few minutes on foot an authentic and lively Paris, with its secret passages, its restaurants, and its design galleries.
Picturesque Walk
A picturesque walk in the heart of the Gare de Lyon-Bastille-Saint Antoine triangle.
Are you a lover of history and picturesque alleys? The surroundings of RIESNER tell the story of the glory hours and the turbulences of this East Parisian area, which before becoming gentrified, was a district dedicated to craftsmanship, but also a working-class district, witness of the French revolution and cradle of the 19th century workers' revolutions.
The stroll starts less than two steps away from RIESNER, with the charming Crémieux street, which is just behind the Austerlitz street. A former working-class neighborhood, it is made up of thirty or so pastel-colored houses that give it the look of a Parisian countryside.
To extend your bucolic escapade, go to the Port de l'Arsenal and stroll in the garden that runs alongside this former cargo port that has become a marina.

Port and Jardin de L'Arsenal - 7 min. walk from RIESNER
From the Jardin du Port de l'Arsenal, join the Place de la Bastille, guided by the golden angel of the Colonne de Juillet. An angelic symbol that commemorates one of the darkest pages of the district, since it surmounts the 504 deaths of the "Three Glorious", the first workers' revolution that shook the district in 1830.
Once you arrive on the Place de Bastille, don't hesitate to take a break in the Cour Damoye, another bucolic corner once populated by artisans, to taste one of the best coffees of Paris at the Atelier de Torréfaction. We then advise you to go back to RIESNER and follow the footsteps of the cabinetmakers, lacquerers, gilders and upholsterers who, around Charles-André Boulle or Jean-Henri Riesner , made the reputation of the faubourg by creating the most beautiful furniture for Versailles and the great European courts. Behind most of the doorways are hidden courtyards or passages that once housed the workshops of these craftsmen.
Discover the charm of the Cour de l'étoile, the Cour des Shadocks just next door, or the Passage du Chantier, the last witness to the old wood and furniture trades.

You can join the quays at the level of the Jardin des Plantes and run to the Invalides from where you can return by Batobus to catch your breath and peacefully admire the Eiffel Tower, the Concorde, the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre or Notre Dame de Paris.
